Area History: For centuries, the area was a seasonal hunting ground of the nomadic Ute Indians. In the late 1800’s the region was frequented by trappers and prospectors and the land was (and still is) predominately owned by the federal government.

With the filling of the Dillon Reservoir in 1963, the area was scenically enhanced and its character given a new dimension. During 1980 and 1981 a number of small private parcels were merged to form an 82-acre planned unit development named Summerwood.

Today, Summerwood is a private and comprehensively planned community of about one hundred homes, including single-family, duplex, and three small condominium complexes. Common areas and facilities include a swimming pool, tennis courts, and a clubhouse.

Summerwood is managed by our Homeowners Association and services are provided by a local property management company. Summerwood’s location in the high Colorado Rocky Mountains offers the best in mountain recreation and active living.
